This Week's Cartoon...

...will not appear, alas. As you may have notice, had you started at The Latest! page, In Contempt is going on a little vacation for the month of April. I hate to do it, but reality smacked me on the head last night. The GREs are coming up, requiring whatever time and energy I have left over from caring for Blaby™ and surviving my day job; plus there are application deadlines to meet, the hunt for letters of recommendation, and the composition of all those essays on what makes me a good candidate for liberry skool and so on and so forth.

There are about 500 or so folks out there every week who check in to see what I've drawn. I find it truly flattering and inspiring to know that my cartoons attract such dedication. So this decision was not made lightly, nor do I take my readership for granted. Were this strip a source of income, I might choose differently; sadly, it ain't, so I gotta do the hard thing, take a break, and focus on some other priorities for a bit. Fortunately, this hiatus is temporary. I hope y'all will bear with it and return for more on May 3, 2004 when I resume the strip.

In the meantime, I will continue posting to this blog. It's fairly easy and takes up little time; and, like so many of you fellow bloggers and blog-lurkers, I do it at work. ;) There will probably be more Cartoons About Feelings About Work, if that offers any consolation.

And what about Sheldon? There is another page in the works that will appear this week for certain. After that it is touch and go. May 3rd might see a new page or two for the current story line. My plan is to finish up "Into the Woods" by June. Cross your fingers, knock on wood, etc., etc. I am eager to start a new story line—in fact, I have at least four more outlined in a notebook, so it's not like the well dried up or anything. Quite the opposite: I'm-a teemin' wit' inspirations!

So, again, my apologies for the interruption. I hope y'all will keep up with the blog, or at least return in May when things pick up again. Remember, at In Contempt, we do our best not to be like this guy. (Thanks for the link, Matt!)

Would you care to address the rumor that the real reason for this cessation of political cartooning is a mysterious envelope full of cash that arrived from the White HOuse?

It would have to be a lot of cash. Enough to fund my own colony on Mars.

Deep Sheldon Nine?

I feel your pain, Kevin. Grad school apps are so stressful, especially in this modern day of budget and consequently grad admission cuts. (and I'm still waiting to hear from 3 schools) Plus there's the fact that if you call ETS to have your GRE scores sent to various schools, it's like going to Vegas and putting $15 in a slot machine, and if you win then they'll send the scores your requesting to the schools you want them to. But then now I'm just randomly griping.

Anyway, good luck with the GRE!

I'm glad to see you're going to study hard... remember for most of your childhood...you didn't have a TV...which made you a more literate person?
