It's National Security, Stupid

Martial is trying his best not to fume about the alleged politicization of this week's 9/11 commission hearings. Registering his "complete confusion, my terrible dismay, and my utter revulsion", Martial tosses of a little humor relief that really tickles me:

The problem, as I see it, is that no one in the Bush Administration (or the press, for that matter) seems able to say, "We fucked up. We'll learn from our mistakes." About anything. Instead, all the time, it's, "We had a plan. Not just any plan, but a really cool plan. In fact, we implemented the plan! And the plan is working perfectly." I keep expecting one of them to tell us that the World Trade Center is still standing because their really cool plan™ worked. Just you wait.
As you might expect, The American Prospect blog is all over this stuff, but I really this entry by Nick Confessore on the right wing attack machine and Garance Franke-Ruta's observation that Richard Clarke's critics have chosen to attack him personally because, they grudgingly admit, they haven't actually read his book yet. Ah.
