The last time I updated the story, the date was 10/24/03. It is now 3/24/04. What the @%*#??

Anyway, page 19 is up. So scroll down. Or re-read to refresh.

I hope to have pages 20 and 21 up by the Saturday following this one, 4/3/04. Wish me luck.

Read comics to my child? And encourage imbecilicism? I think not!

Don't want to make you feel old, or anything, but I have fond childhood memories of my dad reading Calvin and Hobbes to me.

Comics aren't just for kids anymore.

Pow. Biff. Kerblam.

I may lose Cool Points for this, but is the goat quoting Monty Python and the Holy Grail in that last panel or am I making up quotes again?

Posted by: PinkDreamPoppies at March 26, 2004 02:55 AM

Thanks for the correction, David. Will make change pronto.

PDP—It very well could be Python, the bit with the rabbit with huge fangs. I must have unconsciously channeled it. Since I first saw The Holy Grail at the age of 5, it's a very good likelihood.

Well, I got curious and looked it up...

Here's Kevin's goat:

Oh yes! A dread nasty beast! Razor sharp teeth-- Powerful jaws-- One yellow eye that never blinks, I tell ya!

Via the World's Most Accurate Holy Grail Script (scroll down for it), here's the Python's Tim:

Follow. But! Follow only if ye be men of valour, for the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel that no man yet has fought with it and lived! Bones of full fifty men lie strewn about its lair. So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

And this:

He's got huge, sharp-- eh-- he can leap about-- look at the bones!

So, you're off the hook, Kevin. I just made up the similarity. (Although now the goat has the voice of John Cleese, which is groovey.)

You know, that movie reads as well as it watches. I just may have to go rent it this week.

Whew, that's a relief. I'd hate to be a plagiarist. Still, the influence is definitely there. I was one of those annoying Python quoting geeks so hated in 1980s high school.

Oh, come on... The Python-quoting geeks were hated in 1990's high school, too.
