Behind Every tATu, There's a Singer-Songwriter

The two most famous songs by the Russian "lolita lesbian" pop duo sensation tATu were actually written by a young woman named Elena Kiper, who is no longer writing for tATu and has formed a new pop duo -- NICHYA -- though this one lacks the lipstick lesbian angle (her singing partner in this new group is a man). Nichya is getting ready to attempt to replicate tATu's worldwide success, minus the teenybopper exploitation angle. Here's Nichya's Official English language website, where you can download entire songs for free, if interested. The songs I recommend trying are: "Pain to Choose," "Nachinai Menia," and "Vsyo Vremja (O Tebe) (All Time [About You])." You can find these songs by following the above link, clicking on the photo, clicking on "Audio," then finally clicking on the song names on the left to start downloading the full MP3s. The song "Pain to Choose" is much better in the Russian version (titled "Nichya," like the duo itself), simply because the English translation is pretty clumsy, but the English version does offer a good idea of what Kiper's songs are about in general: the exquisite pain of love and yearning in an imperfect world.
