This Week's Cartoon (3/15/04)

The pain and suffering of the Spanish people had the further misfortune of sharing the same universe with American presidential election politics, the subject of this week's cartoon. I did entertain an idea for a cartoon addressing the terrorist bombings in Spain, but decided that it wasn't worth the risk of possibly, albeit unintentionally exploiting their pain for my pithy political point. So I stuck with more trivial matters close to home. If you feel this week's strip is just plain silly, then I'm glad. It's certainly meant to be.

FYI—The flag in the back of panel four was used by the Viet Cong military during the war in Vietnam. In case ya couldn't have already guessed.

I love the new design. Except when it comes to your comics. I have the hardest time being able to SEE them. Especially when there a lots of words. I don't know what it is, but the comics are smaller than they used to be & the resolution has worsened. Is there something I need to change on my browser to see them better?

Hm—that's no good. The resolution on my screen at home is 800X600 on a 15", but at work it's 1024X768 on a 17", and both seem to work fine. This particular cartoon was saved as a gif at a higher number of colors to allow the photoshopped propaganda panel to read more clearly. So all seems to be working on my end—which, of course, is no gaurantee it will work anywhere else. When I get to work, I'll see what I get.

Is this a consistent problem?

Anyone else have advice for yerz truly? Checking things out on different monitors and platforms is a given, but also a luxury I don't have. There are no PCs in my house. (A mac is, technically speaking, a "personal computer" but you know what I mean.)

Yeah, it's been like this since you switched. And it's only w/ your comics that I've had this problem. Both at home & at work. Both running various windows versions & IE. I haven't tried looking at it w/ Netscape. Mebbe I'll try that when I get home tonight.

Hokay. Comic looks great using Netscape. The rest of the blog is all garbled, though. And I'm unable to do comments via Netscape. In IE, comic has poor resolution & is hard to read, but blog looks great & I can comment. You tell me.

Netscape and Movable Type do not get along, at least on the Mac. Blame AOL. Odd that the comic looks bad in IE, as I use IE all the time, and it looks fine on my end. I'm not doing anything differently in preparing the gif, so who knows what's going on? I blame society.

Weird,

I am also using Windows (2000). Using either IE or Netscape, I have no problem viewing either the cartoon or the blog or the comments. In IE, the Blargblog logo and the incontempt logo both show up with standard issue blue/purple link outlines. In netscap, they don't. Other than that no obvious difference.

Browsers are weird.

"Browser schnauzer."

I'm still snickering about "approvify."
