Or: Proud Papa Gets Self-Indulgent.
But then, it is a blog. Anyhoo, here are more pics documenting Owen's last day in the hospital, his first day at home and his first Christmas. We were released yesterday at about 12:30pm, got home, and ran a million errands. Somewhere in between we managed to relax. As we went to bed, we changed out six diapers in one hour, fed him three times and burped him... a lot.... People had warned us that we wouldn't use the crib first night. It's true: he wound up sleeping on our chests as we took turns. But that's okay. I don't think there is anything more relaxing than sleeping with a baby on your chest. Until he starts crying, of course.

Its probably hard to believe after the probably exhausting and mind blowing birth that the really difficult part is just beggining. Difficult but doable.
btw: Sleeping with mom and dad is also very relaxing and healthy for the baby. We mainly use the crib when we aren't sleeping, otherwise the baby has been with us. We relatively recently moved Edo into his own room and bed ( to make room for the next one!--we couldn't get a king sized bed!)
We enjoy having the little guy sleep on our chests. Our only concern regards the dogs, one of whom is small and sleeps at our feet, but the other one is quite large. Gentle, but large. So far, Owen's been sleeping with us because it has been so cold lately. He has no problem sleeping by himself; he was quite cozy in the hospital. But if he gets really cold, watch out. Eventually we'll have to make the transition from our bed to his bed. So mama can get some sleep.

Owen's two big gay aunties wanted to wish the Moore family a very Merry one and a few days of rest. Let us know when we can come and bogie the baby again!

Posted by: emo at December 26, 2003 12:35 PMThe picture with Crash is so cute - he looks SO concerned.
Posted by: kodi at December 27, 2003 08:22 AMHe is very concerned. Every time the kid cries, he's right there, trying to help out. The ironic thing—and somewhat sad thing—is that Crash is just more in the way when he does that, so we have to physically shove his 138-lb mass over to do anything. But we always pet him profusely later for being such a sweet, caring guy.

Posted by: Jack Bog at December 28, 2003 10:42 PMAwww.... I love the photo with Crash especially, but they all rock.
For what it's worth, I spent my infanthood with a dog much like Crash (in both size and breed), and I seem to have gotten out of it with only minimal brain damage.
