me too. oh, me too. thanks for this one, this is very timely for me.
i'm weighing the pros and cons of antidepressant medication, but thinking maybe i just need to try and find another job.
good luck and hang in there...
Posted by: r@d@r at December 3, 2003 10:29 AMHa! You're welcome. I, too, am on the anti-depressants (crap, now I just remembered that I forgot to take my dose this morning) and have a crappy job. Our maladies are far too common.

I call it "antidepresident" medication.
Can you give us an update on whether or not those pills be makin' yer life more betta?
Allow me to comment on that one...
I took St. John's Wort for about a year. Feeling fine and acting foolishly, I went off of it. A year later, I'm just now resuming it.
I can't speak for the big-pharma varieties, but yes, SJW helps. For me, it has the effect of putting a sort of floor underneath the physical aspect of my emotional state: in the gut, day to day, I can't feel worse than a certain level. Of course, events in my life can provoke appropriate downs; nothing medicinal can or should fix that. But it helps with the meaningless, unprovoked, apparently purely biological depressions.
Posted by: Steve Bates at December 3, 2003 02:40 PMThe happy pills do in fact work pretty well. That doesn't keep the job from sucking, but it does allow me to focus on my cartooning and my life. Of course, now that I'm expecting a baby, my life has taken time away from cartooning, as evident in the tardiness of Sheldon production.
(Pinkham—I got your e-mail; I'm just trying to figure out a good time to get some brewskies. I'll cawll ya, honest.)
Posted by: Kevin Moore at December 3, 2003 10:19 PMSJW helped with my depression, but did nothing for the panic attacks I got, so I ditched it in favor of Lexapro.
Lexapro seems to be working pretty well for me, no side effects, no panic attacks, still a bit of depressive episodes, though.
I might be up with beers with you and Pinkham too....

That can be arranged, I think. As for when, it's gotten really unpredictable for me. Jenn is in her 34th week, so she can go into labor at any point between now and January 11th. (I'm rooting for 12/31, because the timing in terms of time off from work and in filing taxes would be bee-yoot!) We have been doing a lot of prep around the house and attending birthing and baby care classes. Plus Jenn needs me around these days, because she's on "bed rest", making me her primary caregiver, so to speak. Or "errand boy." :)
Posted by: Kevin Moore at December 5, 2003 09:28 AMI'm sure she wouldn't mind if we sat around the bed popping brewskis while she sips herbal tea!
